Prevention.

Writer: regan kennyregan kenny

Why do I love working in primary care as an RN?

1) you get to follow patients for many years - watch them ebb and flow through life. Get to know them & their families very well.

2) you get to encourage positive change and observe positive momentum.

3) prevention - the better I can manage patients in the community - the less hospital admissions, less major health events, less adverse reactions, less financial strain on the Canadian economy.

Prevention is key.

How can we prevent adverse health outcomes?

-Smoking Cessation

-Weight Management

-Cancer monitoring/surveillance

-Wellness checks

-Exercise promotion

-Fall reduction

It's truly a gift getting to know patient's on a personal level and watching them transform and succeed.
